A neck/thyroid ultrasound examination is rapid, non-invasive, and relatively inexpensive procedure. It gives the examining physician important information about the size, location, and consistency of the thyroid gland or of palpable nodules found in the neck at the time of routine physical examination.
How to prepare for a neck/thyroid ultrasound.
Please wear loose fitting clothes, especially a shirt or blouse with a loose-fitting collar. Necklaces and other such jewelry, which may limit access to the neck, should not be worn.
